Week 17

After our meeting with Shay and his wife we were full of motivation to build him the best solution we can and maybe help other ALS patients along the way.

The next element that we decided to focus on is the feedback system. While designing the feedback system of our prototype we had to consider few important things:

[if !supportLists]1. [endif]The system is designed to be located in the bedroom, so no Auditory feedback is allowed so it won’t interrupt other people (let’s say Sahy’s wife)

[if !supportLists]2. [endif]The system support only few interactions, so we know that we want a very simple feedback system

[if !supportLists]3. [endif]The system supposed to be seen while the room is dark – so we have to use some kind light source for our feedback.

Other than that we know that the system supposed to give feedback to user on the following things:

[if !supportLists]1. [endif]If the system recognized a face and ready to receive commands.

[if !supportLists]2. [endif]What kind of blink did the system recognized – short or long?

[if !supportLists]3. [endif]What kind of operation is the system performing?

Our expert CS guys built the feedback system from a cardboard and some leds and it just looks great! More on the feedback system and on our user testing with it next week!
